Frequently Asked Questions
Waxing Questions
I'm nervous. I've never waxed before. Will it hurt?
No worries. You are in good hands! We've given hundreds their first wax, they come back, and so will you. A little, but it's really NOT that bad. It's fast, thorough and gentle. Your first time will be your most uncomfortable. This is because the hair root is bigger and people are tense the first time. Just take an ibuprofen an hour before the appointment, refrain from caffeine, and breathe.
Why don't I just keep shaving?
Waxing will actually make your hair regrow finer and less dense. Skin is silky smooth for weeks, not days. Waxing has much less instance of irritation and bumps than shaving, and keeps your skin exfoliated and smooth. Plus, a regrown wax job looks and feels a lot better than a regrown shave job.
Isn't waxing expensive?
Economically, it's comparable to buying good razor blades. Furthermore, you'll save time in your daily regime AND save your skin the nicks and cuts.
How do I prepare?
You need some length on the hair in order to wax it, about the size of a rice grain. So grow it out! It's the easiest [and hardest] part. Stop shaving today and schedule an appointment in three to four weeks. Your life is about to change for the better!
When should I return?
We typically see clients every three to five weeks depending on how fast your hair grows. If it's only been two weeks between your last wax and your next appointment, we will do our best to make you silky smooth, but we do recommend and see best results when your hair has grown to the length of a rice grain.

Chinese Medicine & Reiki Questions
What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a method of treatment in Chinese Medicine that has been practiced in China and the Far East for thousands of years. Early Chinese physicians discovered that there was an energy network flowing throughout the body called Qi (pronounced “chee”) or vital energy. Qi circulates throughout the body along specific pathways called meridians. According to Chinese Medicine theory, any illness arises when Qi, blood, and body fluids become unbalanced or blocked due to stress, injury, lifestyle, or other reasons.
What will Acupuncture do for me and what are the benefits?
Acupuncture stimulates different points in the body to remove blockage, stimulate the immune system, and harmonize the emotions. When Qi is able to flow freely, health is maintained. The benefits of acupuncture treatments are cumulative. Patients need to get treatment often and regularly. Over time, the body improves its function and ability to work harmoniously.
What is Gua Sha?
Gua Sha– A healing technique of Traditional Chinese Medicine, gua sha dates back to the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). It commonly involves using an instrument with a smooth edge to press-stroke or scrape lubricated skin in one direction for the purpose of increasing circulation and releasing stagnant blood and toxins.
Benefits of Gua Sha
Most people use gua sha as a treatment for common conditions such as a cold, flu, headache, asthma, bronchitis and both chronic and acute pain. It’s also used to stimulate the immune system, detoxify the body and release fevers as the scraping brings excess heat and toxins to the surface of the skin.
What is Moxibustion (Moxa)?
Moxibustion- Moxa is a method of heating specific acupuncture points on the body by burning an herb material close to the skin. This technique can be used alone or in combination with acupuncture – the Chinese character for acupuncture literally means “acupuncture-moxibustion.”
What are the benefits of Moxibustion?
Moxa is superior treatment for blood stagnation (headache, back pain, painful menses, infertility), deficient Qi (fatigue, spontaneous sweating, feelings of cold), and warming the channels (digestive disturbances like IBS, arthritis, and immune function).
About Chinese Herbs
Traditional Chinese Medicine and herbal therapy have their origin in ancient Taoist philosophy which views a person as an energy system in which body and mind are unified, each influencing and balancing the other. Unlike conventional medicine which attempts to isolate and separate a disease from a person, Chinese Medicine emphasizes a holistic approach that treats the whole person. Many people have found Traditional Chinese Medicine and its healing modalities to be excellent tools for maintaining optimum health and preventing illness. It is effective for physical, psychological and emotional problems.
What is Reiki?
The word Reiki means “Universal Life Energy” in Japanese. Reiki is a technique of energy healing wherein a therapist channels energy into the patient to activate the natural healing processes of the patient's body and restore physical and emotional well-being. Reiki is a little-to-no-touch treatment that can holistically provide relief for physical and emotional stress, help facilitate the release of emotional blockages, and balance the body’s chakras. Common sensations experienced during or after a reiki treatment are: increased relaxation, feeling surrounded by a glowing energy, relief of tension, clearing of blocked or stagnant energy, a restored sense of overall well-being.
